Cedar Lane layout

This is a rare occasion, I made a layout and I also used a picture of.... wait for it.... ME! This almost never happens, mostly because I never get caught on photo. And because I don't like to scrap pictures of me. But the colors of Cedar Lane was perfect for the photo of my accidentally new hair color. I grabbed the wrong box of color in the store and my hair turned out a lot darker than I was used to.

I didn't use any patterned papers, just the decorations. They are all super pretty and since I stopped making 12x12 layouts they are often enough. I've stopped hoarding the decos. I realise now that I even if I throw almost all of them on one single layout it's ok. I'll probably not make enough layouts at a short period of time to run out of pretty decorations. ;) I do use them for cards too sometimes but it doesn't take many to make a card either. So I might as well use the ones I've got, they are no use hanging around in their packaging. Which someone seriously should re-make into ziplock bags for easier storage and use. The person putting them in those boxes obviously never used decorations ever in their lives. Ziplock bags, please, someone!

I'm glad I got in the mood for a layout, it doesn't happen often anymore. I seem to have gotten the card making bug and it's chronic ;) This is my post for Design in Papers this week. I'll be back soon but probably with a card or possible an art journal page.

Celebrate

Today I made a layout using some Confetti and Craft Market decorations and paper. The Confetti thickers just begs to be used on layouts and I fell head over heals for the pretty chipboard words. I used them for a layout using a picture from my daughters 7th birthday. She's so cute in this picture.

A cluster of very pretty diecuts. I love scrapping in letter size since you don't have as much scary space and it's not square, I have an easier time planning a rectangular space for some reason.

This is my post for Design in Papers this week, a day early since I switched days this week. But I'll be back tomorrow with an Art Journal page for CiLi in Papers.

Petra's Peekaboo Circles

I made a new cut file for Pretty Crafty Stuff, my friend Petra made wish for a file and I thought the idea was great so I made it into a file. Here is a layout using it with some lovely Craft Market paper and decos from Crate Paper. I think it turned out fun. Also I got to use some Reverse Confetti stamps I had in my stash and really love. And some old photos I never scrapped because they were very small and not so good. But together and in this small format it didn't really matter.

10 things I love about you

Here's another letter sized layout made for DESIGN in PAPERS. I used the Crate Paper Craft Market collection, very pretty collection! The picture is of my son before his first summer break at school. He was super excited that we brought our newest member of the family with us and he got to show him to all his friends at school.

I added lots of pretty decorations and used a stamp set from Winnie & Walter for the text everything. I love it when I can use my stamps for layouts too! And I was so happy I got to scrap this two year old picture, you would not believe the size of that dog now. He is more like a pony ;) And the boy had also gotten a bit taller and oh so clever and grown up. Two years is apparently a long time for kids and puppy dogs <3

I just came back from visiting my mom for a few days and am itching to get back into the craft room again. I added a new file to the Pretty Crafty Stuff shop, I'll be back tomorrow to show you more about that. I have a TON of Winnie & Walter stamps to play with for the new release when I'll be a guest on their blog and I wish I had some more hours every day at the moment. I have some new techniques I would love to try out in an art journal page but well, time. But I love this feeling of creativity when I just want to make stuff all the time. It makes me happy :)

Shine my love

My friend Marie (Sockergrynet) makes the best layouts in letter format. I've been thinking about trying that format for a while. Well, to be honest I saw a very pretty album in that size and THEN I started thinking about it ;) But that's not important. Well, I have not been in the mood to make a layout for a really long time but the other day I was trying to get something done for DESIGN in PAPERS this week and I could not make anything I liked. So I decided to do a layout instead, just to do something entirely different. And I wanted to use the Shine Bright collection by Kaisercraft because it is AMAZING. I picked a picture of Viggo and went to work. I really enjoyed the format and will definitely do more of these layouts.

Smile*

Memories was the theme for the month at the WOW! blog this month and while I was looking for a picture for my Letter to myself 20 years later-layout I found some other old pictures. This one I really love, it's me (on the right side) and two of my best friends from high school. I'm not sure if this is before or after the no-hair- period but I would guess after, we would probably be 17 in this picture. did someone say throwback thursday?

I used the Finnley collection from Glitz for this layout. I had it for a long time and I really love some of the patterned papers. The decos are mostly baby themed for some reason and I guess that's why I didn't use it as much as I intended to. It's still really fun even though the colors don't match almost anything else, at least nothing from my stash.

A letter to me, 20 years later

Today I'm up at the WOW embossingpowder blog and this months theme is Memories. Usually I'd show you a sneak peak and send you on the way there to see but I really wanted to share this LO. You'll see why.

Some weeks ago I got this letter in my mailbox. I was so suprised when I opened it and it was from myself. In 1994 I was 17 years old and had just moved to my first own apartment. I was going to highschool and studying theatre/acting. Apparently a lot of kids got the chance through a paper that was distributed at school to write a letter to themself and have it delivered 20 years later. After doing some asking around I found out we were about 20 000 who took the chance and I really don't remember it at all. The letters was kept at a museum during these years and some will be a part of an exhibition. Pretty cool, huh? So it was quite the surprise getting it in the mail. While reading it I remembered a lot of things I forgot, and it was so much fun! When we got the assignment for WOW this month I thought it was the perfect thing to document. I didn't want to lose the letter again.

So, this is me at 17. I wrote in the letter about my hair (or rather the lack of hair) so I could easely find a photo from the same time as the letter was written. Remember, this is 1994 when Sinead O'Connor was very popular and you could wear plaid shirts and bike pants even together. And during the three years I lived in this town I had pretty much every color or hairstyle that you can imagine.

So, what did the letter say then? It was about all the things that was important to me when I was that age. Friends, boys and music. I also gave myself some advice and they were actually kind of great. I was apparently very wise as a teenager, I think I might be like Benjamin Button and sort of age the wrong way around and actually becoming less wise as the years go. So, what was you like at 17? Would you have liked to get a letter from yourself in the mail? I think it was a great idea! I also wish I could remember writing it, I don't. Many of my friends from back then got a letter too, and it was really fun remembering stuff together. I kind of miss those years, everything was so easy and hard at the same time. It's just that the things that are easy and the things that are hard has changed. I imagine thet the hard parts are harder but they are probably not. You are just in them right now instead of remembering being in them. It's just perspective I guess. It was fun anyways, I had the best friends! I don't think I ever got that kind of friends ever again.

And here's my project! I love wood grain paper, I've got tons of them. You might say I hoard them. This one was a really nice one with the gray-ish color. It made a great background for my layout. The picture is of my kids playing with their cousin, I just love this picture.

I have used Opaque Bright White embossing powder from WOW! for the wood shape and the cork hearts. From Ruby Rock-it I've used the Country Cookin wood veneers, droplet stickers, twine, Crate 12x12 paper, die-cuts and tags.

Driving home for christmas

It was a long time since I really felt like making a LO but the black and white papers from Studio Calicos Brighton Pier Collection wanted to be used for a monochromatic LO with a black and white picture and who am I to say no to papers when they call for me to do something with them?

Turqoise and cork got to break up all the black and white and some gold dots just because they are so pretty! This is my hubbie driving the family up to visit my parents for christmas. I can’t remember if it was last christmas or the one before, I have had this picture printed and ready to be scrapped for a long time. But then again I guess it looked sort of the same both years ;) For more info on the products I used go check out DESIGN in PAPERS.
