Since there are a lot of people having their birthday in February and March I have almost reached the bottom of my birthday card pile. Time to make some new ones. This one I made by blending distress inks over watercolor paper and then scribbling Spectrum Sparkle in clear on top of it. I added a big fun glitter foam word and added little hats on them. It's very glittery card but the picture doesn't show it. I'm sure the kids will want to give it to one of their friends.
This was my post this week for Design in Papers by the way.
I wanted to tell my Swedish readers to go check out the CiLi in Papers blog to see info about a workshop coming up in April. Teresa Collins will be visiting the store and is giving a 4,5 hour class making a very pretty album. Go se and sign up, she's very inspiring and nice I've heard. You don't want to miss it!
Today it was time for my mixed media project for CiLi in Papers, usually I make a page in my Art Journal but this time I wasn't in the mood so I made four mixed media cards instead. Well, they aren't so much mixed media as made with some supplies I usually don't use as often on cards.
This one is embossing paste with embossing powder on top.
This one are a plaid that I painted using Distress paint. I masked off the stripes using post it tape to make them equally wide. I like the layering of colors because you can see the stripes in the color since I added it with the dauber.
Here's just the left over from the previous card.
I went a little crazy with the Distress Paints, I drew triangles and made free hand lines and went nuts with the stamps. Very artsy, not my fav but I was in the mood to play so I decided on keeping it because as long as you have fun it doesn't have to be perfect, right? I do have a bit too much OCD to do this all the time but once in a while it's fun!
See you soon! Until then, have a great weekend and take care :)
Just a quick post since I'm really supposed to be packing for the Meet & Greet event this weekend. Leaving in three hours and haven't started yet. Eeeek! Anyways. Here's my Art Journal page for my bi-weekly Mixed Media posts at CiLi in Papers. I made it easy because I was in a hurry this week but I still like the result.
Just some paint blobs and doodling but it's fun and bright and colorful.
I hope you liked it. I'll be back monday with my next post. Right now I'm going to start getting ready go. I'm super excited about meeting a lot of my crafty friends and having lots of fun this weekend!
I was going throu all the blogsI subscribe to, wondering why my Art Journal page didn't turn up. As it turns out, you actually have to make the post for it to show up in the feeds. Who would have known ;) So here it is, better late than never. This is for my bi-weekly mixed media posts for CiLi in Papers.
I made a background using Spectrum Aquas on gesso, it turned out really soft and pretty. Then I used stencils, gold texture paste and doodled all over the page. It took a good while but I enjoyed to let my mind wander and listen to a good audio book while doing this page.
I think those little tiny dots are my new thing. I think they are super cute!
Well, I better get doing more crafty stuff instead of typing up blog posts that I already should have written ;) See you soon!
It's time again for my bi-weekly mixed media post at CiLi in Papers and this time I was really happy with what I made. I started with a well gessoed page. I love the soft look of watercolor on gesso, it has a lovely dreamy feel and this background is one of my all time favourites. I used my SpectrumAquas and scribbled three colors (Peach, Yellow and Charcoal) on different sized acrylic blocks for stamping. Then I spritzed water on them and pressed to the page. I dried with my heat tool and repeated until I covered the whole page. It looks so pretty!
I used pieces of a brown paper bag and glued down on the pages. I covered them in gesso and distress paint to match the page and stamped on them with an alpha from Lawn Fawn. Let's pretend that I did not switch two letters in the text... I added white shadows to make the words pop a bit more. I added shading with the Charcoal SpectrumAqua around the paper bag pieces and then I splattered some Black SpectrumAqua on top of it all and called it a day.
Seriously, how pretty are the colors of the background? It's so random how it will turn out and I love it when it is a success!
I really shouldn't listen to 70's rock while creating. This page looks like the Scooby Doo party bus and I'm not sure what happened. I think I just wanted to use my Aqua Tints to color it and I only have the Bright and Beautiful set and Essentials right now so I for some reason decided to use ALL of the colors at once thinking it would be fun to keep the warm colors in the speech bubble and the cold colors outside. It started looking a lot like Halloween before adding the turquoise and then it just went to the dark side of the 70's from there. I hade a good laugh and don't mind. It's just an art journal and I had a good couple of hours doodling and coloring everything.
The fun part and the part that I will take with me to new, a bit more sane, projects were the stencilling using Aqua Tints in gold and silver. I used a bit of cut and dry foam to pick the color up and dabbed it over the stencils and I really like the effect. Will be seen in future cards and projects I'm sure.
So, not everything needs to be perfect in the Art Journal as long as I have fun. This is a page I made for my bi-weekly mixed media posts at CiLi in Papers. I hope you got a good laugh at least. The journaling says POW and then smaller: All of a sudden it will happen. It's a slogan from a lottery ticket in Sweden meaning that one day it's your turn to win and I believe in the power of positive thinking. One day something amazing will happen to me.
I'm up at the CiLi in Papers blog for my bi-weekly mixed media project. This time I brought out the Gelli printing plate for some mono printing. I have only used it once before with not very awesome results but this time I was more happy with the results. The differece being I picked a few colors for all the printing, just some random acrylics of different brands I had in my stash. Less colors=less chance of a muddy mess. I also used more color on the plate so it didn't have time to dry. The third thing I changed was the paper. Last time I used regular printing paper and I wasn't very happy with it. I saw a video where someone used the backside of old one sided scrapbook papers and I had some of those from ages ago that had no sentimental value at all. I used them and I think the results was better this time. I didn't use many masks since the paper was thicker and didn't really show the intricate details of the masks as much as I wanted. But I still love how a few of the papers turned out. I made this Art Journal page with one of the sheets. It was a bit dark so I gessoed over the middle and saved the prettier outside parts.
I really love the texture from layering prints this way. The second and third print is always very pretty.
Here are some of the different results I got. I love that pink one in the middle and the green-ish ones. Very fun! I hope you got inspired to do some mono printing! See you in an hour or two for my second post today, this time for WOW! I hope you'll be back then <3
Instead of an art journal page I made this canvas for CiLi in Papers today. I used the ebrush with my Spectrum Noir markers and some masks. It was really fun playing with it and I love the result. I only added some gel pen and watercolor pencils as finishing touches.
I only used three colors of markers for the background, added a shade darker through the masks and I love how many different shades I got when the colors overlapped.
I'm thinking I should do a couple of more canvases to hang in a group, It didn't take too long since there wasn't any drying time in between layers.
I hope you enjoyed the inspiration. I hope I'll see you soon again! Have a lovely weekend!
I know nothing has happened here for the last couple of weeks. I've been on vacation and didn't remember to schedule all my own posts before leaving. So this post will be lots of photos and just a bit of text since I need to get on schedule with the regular posts and actually creating new stuff. Phew, vacation is hard work ;)
Here's a post I made for Design in Papers using some Lawn Fawn stamps and the eBrush with Spectrum Noir markers. I love those cute dogs!
Here's some cute owls I made for the A blog named hero facebook post. I cut the thought bubble from post it tape and masked to blend some ink as a background. I love the googly eyes, I borrowed some from my daughters craft box ;)
WOW Embossingpowders did a blog hop with Viva Las Vegas Stamps and I got some amazing mixed media stamps to play with. They look so good with the embossingpowders from WOW! I made this collage styled card in all my favourite colors. I had a lot of fun making this card and I loved seeing all the inspiration from the team. Since WOW is making some changes behind the scenes some of the team are leaving after the hop and I look forward to following their new adventures around the crafty side of the web.
I made this art journal page for CiLi in Papers using some old tags, Gesso, Gelatos and Distress paint. I wrote the text from one of my favourite songs by Pearl Jam on top of them.
Here's another card for Design in Papers, I used a background I made with Aqua Tints and some stickers. I think it looks really fun with the pops of color with the black and white.
And here's another card made for the A blog named hero facebook page. And thats it for me today. will be back tomorrow with my regular post for Design in Papers and then another post later this week with some cards I made when I went to a crop before leaving on vacation.
I did make one more card actually, I was super excited to be a guest at the Hero Arts blog and you can find my post here. I was so happy to have been asked and it was a treat to create for one of my favourite stamp companies :)
I have not had a chance to thank you for all the lovely comments on the blog lately, I have been super busy but I read all comments and they make me so very happy! I'm glad some new readers have found me and I hope you will like my posts that usually are a bit less crowded and a bit more evenly spread out ;)
This is the Art Journal Page I'm posting for CiLi in Papers today. I saw a page with black background and that was my starting point. It didn't turn out like I was planning, it wanted to become something else. I was happy in the end and that's what counts :) I used black gesso for the background, some AquaTints for splattering, and a man cut out from a magazine. Nothing fancy but it was fun to make. Now I'll go back to packing for a crop I'm going to this weekend. See you soon!
