Today I'm super happy to have been invited to take part of the five year anniversary of A Blog Named Hero. Not only there's a lot of inspiration to be had but a FANTASTIC giveaway with great prizes.

I was a part of the ABNH DT something like three years ago and I really enjoyed the time on the team. When I started crafting, something like 9-10 years ago, Hero Arts was one of the first stamp companies I discovered. They just keep making fantastic stamps and products all the time and I don't think I will ever get over my first stamp love. Being a part of the team was super exiting for me. As a bonus I met so many incredible talented crafters that still keeps inspiring me. I also made a lot of great crafty friends, all of them very supportive and caring. It was a great team to be on.

I am thrilled getting to not only take part of this second day of the two day long blog hop, but also to hop through it myself and see all the wonderful projects. So let's stop blabbering and get to the good stuff.

I made this card using the Flower Garden stamp set. It's not a new set but I love it because of the many things you can do with it. I made a background using distress ink and stamped a floral pattern in gold on top. I used a diecut inlay technique with foil and glitter cardstock for the hear,t and then heat embossed the sentiment in the set on vellum.

White embossing on cork

My former teamie from A blog named Hero, Lisa Stein made this super pretty card using white embossing on cork. I had to borrow that idea because I thought the card was brilliant. Mine wasn't as much but I do like the white on cork and will play some more with it later I think (mostly since I have a whole bunch of cork paper that I have no idea what to do with). 

I used stamps by Kaisercraft, they have made some lovely sets lately. I used puffy stickers for sentiment because I could not figure out what text stamp to use and where to put it. This is my creation for Design in Papers this week by the way.

This is my creation fro ABNH facebook page today. I had this great idea for a card and I tried five times and it just looked horrible. I finally admitted that I was defeated and stored the idea for future use. Instead I reached for an old favourite of mine, the circle from an older Hero Arts sed and made a focal point by white embossing it and make a colourful circle using some colors of distress ink I never combined before. It actually turned out very pretty, I just love it when new color combos work out. I added a diecut from Winnie & Walter that I covered with embossing powder to match the circle. I used some of my fav black and white paper and was so happy with the card I did a little dance in my chair.

Catching up!

I know nothing has happened here for the last couple of weeks. I've been on vacation and didn't remember to schedule all my own posts before leaving. So this post will be lots of photos and just a bit of text since I need to get on schedule with the regular posts and actually creating new stuff. Phew, vacation is hard work ;)

Here's a post I made for Design in Papers using some Lawn Fawn stamps and the eBrush with Spectrum Noir markers. I love those cute dogs!

Here's some cute owls I made for the A blog named hero facebook post. I cut the thought bubble from post it tape and masked to blend some ink as a background. I love the googly eyes, I borrowed some from my daughters craft box ;) 

WOW Embossingpowders did a blog hop with Viva Las Vegas Stamps and I got some amazing mixed media stamps to play with. They look so good with the embossingpowders from WOW! I made this collage styled card in all my favourite colors. I had a lot of fun making this card and I loved seeing all the inspiration from the team. Since WOW is making some changes behind the scenes some of the team are leaving after the hop and I look forward to following their new adventures around the crafty side of the web. 

I made this art journal page for CiLi in Papers using some old tags, Gesso, Gelatos and Distress paint. I wrote the text from one of my favourite songs by Pearl Jam on top of them. 

Here's another card for Design in Papers, I used a background I made with Aqua Tints and some stickers. I think it looks really fun with the pops of color with the black and white.

And here's another card made for the A blog named hero facebook page. And thats it for me today. will be back tomorrow with my regular post for Design in Papers and then another post later this week with some cards I made when I went to a crop before leaving on vacation. 

I did make one more card actually, I was super excited to be a guest at the Hero Arts blog and you can find my post here. I was so happy to have been asked and it was a treat to create for one of my favourite stamp companies :) 

I have not had a chance to thank you for all the lovely comments on the blog lately, I have been super busy but I read all comments and they make me so very happy! I'm glad some new readers have found me and I hope you will like my posts that usually are a bit less crowded and a bit more evenly spread out ;)

I was up at the A Blog Named Hero facebook page today with this foiled typewriter. I keep coming back to this set, I love typewriters. It's pretty big so it's a bit tricky to come up with new ways to use it so the design tends to be the same-ish but with different techiques. This time I used silver foil on black cardstock. I used embossing ink and bonding powder with my laminator to foil it and it's very pretty. I colored it a bit using colored pencils to make it separated from the background and I splattered some silver ink around it. To warm it up I used bright pink cardstock and vellum with gold dots. Gold and silver looks good together I think. 

I hope you like it, it's som much fun to experiment with foil!

So, for my post on the A Blog Named Hero facebook page today I wanted to use one of my neglected background stamps, the Vertical Arrows by Hero Arts. This one is a favourite of mine but I rarely use it. I really should figure out more ways to use my backgrounds because they are so lovely. For this I white embossed the stamp on Neenah Destert Storm cardstock and coloured it with distress ink. 

Then I diecut the In a word hugs cutaway from Winnie and walter and one of the leave dies from in bloom, Maggies roses set. I did some extra diecuts of each out of white cardstock to stack up the diecuts. When I was done the pattenr kinda made me a bit dizzy and I diecut the shapes again from vellum and adhered on top of the die cuts to tone them down a bit and that looked perfect. I used the X-shaped sticker machine from Xyron to make the vellum sticky without any ugly adhesive showing through. 

I hope you like it, I had fun making it and it turned out very pretty I think!

A little sunshine...

So, we had a really rainy and cold spring here this year, no summer heat and enjoying some sun and filling up on vitamin D. So I made a card thinking that I could wish for some sunshine. I used the a little stamp set by Hero Arts and stamped a background and watercoloured it and then ended up mostly covering it up with the front panel. I stamped the label on vellum and airbrushed it on the back side using the same colours as on the (mostly covered up) background. It looked a bit busy and not very pretty so I had to use a piece of white pearlescent cardstock under the vellum to make it show up a bit more. To add some contrast I used some black and white patterned paper to anchor the label. 

I hope this will conjure up some sunshine, or emigration is a strong possibility. At least the spring colours made me happier for a while. :)

I made this card for my post at A blog named heros facebook page this week. I have a paper from WRMK that I just think is so pretty. It's just black wide painted stripes on white and it's just so perfect. Except for the fact that its 12x12 and the stripes are really wide and it's not really great for cardmaking. I made my own background using one of the Brush Strokes stamps and it turned out really great! I just added a tag and some paint splatter and called it a day. I'm super happy with the background, I will try this again for other cards.

Masked typewriter

This is my card for the ABNH facebook team today. I used some rubber cement to mask the typewriter before making the background, I really like that I don't have to be careful when making the background and just go nuts. I'm really a messy crafter and keeping white space and inside the lines are very hard to me. Anyways, I think the card looks vintage-y and pretty with warm soft pink and brown tones. Also the keys covered in glossy accents so that is also kind of cool.

I made this card for the ABNH facebook page using my favourite set Brush Strokes by Hero Arts. I recently won some really cool dies from Winnie and Walter and wanted to play with them. I cut out the panel and the holes for the cross stitches with them. I had an idea to make a whole card front by making holes and sewing a pattern on it but I chickened out thinking I would get the last row crooked and that would bug me. I'll do that another day when I have some more time. This was fun too! 

I also made this card experimenting with Fab Foil from WOW, I tried to get it stuch using Stick-it but since Stick-it doesn't become permanent until after a few hours this did not work as well as I hoped. It looks a bit uneven but I think that's cool too. But not the best combination. I know Stick-it works with the gold flakes from Indigo Blue and I have those at home too but I haven't found a good container for them yet and will not open the jar until I do. I know they grow and are impossible to get back in the jar ;)

This is what the foil looks like on Stick-it, kinda cool actually. Next I try it with bonding powder and a laminator. Experimenting is fun!
