I got this new stamp set from Lawn Fawn called Joy to the woods and I took it for a test drive. I grew up in northen Sweden, a good bit above the arctic circle. This set reminded me of home, I think it was the Birch trees. We had a lot of small Birch trees, not the big ones that grows here. Also, being above the arctic circle the sun don't rise above the horizon most of December and a bit into January. Instead of daylight we got this really pretty blue color on the sky and I tried to recreate it on this card. The snow also gets a bluish color to it. Not sure I got it but that was my inspiration. I started out with white embossed trees on watercolor paper and spent a long time trying to get the right feeling. I used my Distress markers for the trees, distress ink pads for the sky and smow and some Copics for the fox and other things (even though I'm not sure there are red foxes that far north, maby it's just the white ones?).
I like this set, I fell for the Birch trees and the cute critters. I'll have some fun coloring this in different ways!
Beautiful texture on the trees! Wonderful card.
